Nintendo and Niantic Launch a New AR Game

Nintendo and Niantic Launch a New AR Game on Blog

The Pokémon Go maker, Niantic, has recently announced a new collaboration with Nintendo. And we believe, you’ll love it! The partners are working on a new AR game based on the Pikmin franchise.

The new app is planned to be dropped in the second half of 2021. This will be the first cooperation between the two companies since 2018. According to Niantic, the new app will include game actions that will encourage users to go out and walk around as if ‘Pikmin was all around’.

For those, who don’t know, Pikmin is a series of puzzle video games. The first game was released in 2001. The gameplay of the franchise develops on a planet that looks like Earth, but its population is magical creatures called Pikmin. They collect items, destroy enemies, try to avoid danger, and deal with different daily missions.

Niantic promises to share more details about the upcoming app soon. However, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto has already teased a little info about their recent brainchild:

‘Niantic's AR technology has made it possible for us to experience the world as if Pikmin are secretly living all around us. Based on the theme of making walking fun, our mission is to provide people a new experience that's different from traditional games. We hope that the Pikmin and this app will become a partner in your life.’
