Rocket League® is a game where you have to score a goal with the help of your car. The ball is giant, the field is amazing, and the cars are awesome. You can download Rocket League® for Microsoft Windows, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
The graphics quality on Nintendo Switch, in general, is below the graphics on other bigger platforms. This is done so that the game will remain fast and the “slowing down” of the graphics and its “see-through” effect can be noticeable only during the most dynamic moments in the game. But other than that the game is beautiful and looks like a movie about robots.
The main goal of the game is to get the giant ball to your opponent’s gate with your car. You can play it with up to 4 players split screen but keep in mind that doing that on Nintendo Switch as for which platform is this Rocket League® review the definition won't be great in this case. But you can still play with up to 8 players online. Mind the field because there are spots on which you can go and get some extra acceleration or special hit for the ball. The cars here can even jump and make double flips in the air which is cool on the one hand, but on the other, it can be too slow to get back to the ground when, meantime, your opponent will hit the ball. There’s a tutorial available where you can practice all the tricks before the game including kicking the ball in the air.
The game supports multiplayer with other platforms meaning that you can play from Nintendo Switch, and your friend can go against you from a PC. It’s pretty easy to control the driving here, but it’s not easy to get the ball in the gate. Because you can’t just drive to the ball and hit it, it’s better if you think of an angle and the speed with which to hit. Of course, there’s no time for this thinking, but it’ll get to you intuitively after some experience in playing this game.

The game is pretty beautiful to look at. It has nice and different backgrounds, big and beautiful balls that look like they came from the future. And, of course, the cars look cool as well with a lot of details to them but mainly they’re racing cars, sometimes from the last century. Our point is that you can be back to playing it just for the graphics as well not only it's fun and easy gameplay except some minor glitches.
The Bottom Line
If you’ve decided to download Rocket League® for Nintendo Switch, you’ll be pleasantly surprised because there are extra bonuses available for this platform. We won’t spoil much, but it’s a specific type of cars which are very dear to Nintendo creators and players… The graphics aren’t perfect for portable console, but you probably won’t even notice that because you’ll be busy kicking the ball and other players’ cars.
Rocket League® has a great soccer and race mix gameplay with nice Terminator-like graphics.
Pros : Great futuristic graphics and nice looking cars;
Interesting and fun gameplay;
You can play the game with your friends and online.
Cons : Not the greatest performance on Switch;
The cars get down from the air when they jump longer than you’d like to;
It can be tough to get the gates, but it’s good that there are only 5 minutes in each match.
