Sonic Lost World was released in 2013 as a joint effort by Sega and Sonic Team. The game promises the same high-speed action fans have come to love about the franchise.
The graphics on Sonic Lost World are good but flawed. The design itself is pretty remarkable. It features high-quality images that are free of pixelation. Another great thing about the graphics is the use of vibrant colors. The scheme complements the well-drawn images perfectly. The main let down in graphics are the numerous motion delays. These glitches are often experienced when slowing Sonic down and when trying various parkour moves.
Sonic Lost World is an action-themed platform video game. It follows the adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and his sidekick Tails the Fox. Something unique about this game's plot is the unlikely alliance between Sonic and his arch nemesis Dr. Eggman. They combine forces to fight the Deadly 6 and save the world. The main aim is to find and destroy these central antagonists.
The game includes several side-plots and quests including animal rescues, hidden paths and cool collectibles like the Red Star Rings. It also has multiple levels set in different surroundings and featuring various obstacles and enemies. You must use Sonic’s speed, parkour skills, and color powers to get through these challenges while collecting Wisps for temporary power-ups.
Another good thing about the gameplay is the support of multiple players. In the co-op mode, the second player controls a vehicle to help Sonic on his quest. While in rival mode, you get to compete to see who has the highest speed.
Sonic Lost World can be played on devices compatible with the Wii U platform including the GamePad. The device allows you to control activities like Sonic’s running speed, parkour tricks, and collection of Wisps. However, the numerous glitches prevent a smooth execution of these mechanisms. The flaws affect the rhythm of Sonic’s movements and make it difficult to direct the character accurately, especially at high speeds.
Replay Value: 5.0
Sonic Lost World has high replay value, mainly because of the many alternative storylines the game offers. Once you see one through to the end, you can always start over and take a different path. Another reason for the high replayability is the presence of unlockable and collectible content. Finally, the level design is also enough to make you want to play over and over as you try to overcome the obstacles at higher speeds.
Sonic Lost World has its fair share of pros and cons. The above-average graphics, great gameplay, and high replayability make it a game worth considering. It also has a lot to offer in terms of exciting challenges and diverse platform settings to keep things interesting. However, the tricky and often faulty control system might take some getting used to. However, once you get used to this setback, this is a game you will enjoy.
Sonic Lost World is a game you should consider getting if you are a fan of action-packed platforming video games.
