Professional Review

Kirby: Mass Attack was created by HAL Laboratory and launched by Nintendo for the first time in 2011. A version for Wii U platform was later released in 2016, and it is playable on a variety of consoles including NES and GameBoy.

Graphics: 3

The game features graphics that are slightly above average. The characters including the Kirby clones and the main rivals are very well designed with clear and distinct features. The motion of the characters is also smooth and seamless which makes the gaming experience a lot more fun. The background, on the other hand, is blurry and vague for most of the levels.

Gameplay: 4

Kirby: Mass Attack is an action-packed adventure video game. The Kirby is split into ten separate entities by his arch nemesis Necrodeus. Each one of the Kirby clones has one distinct power. Your job is to take the Kirbys through different obstacles and courses until you find Necrodeus and have him put the clones back together.

You will come across a variety of enemies like the angry monkey that you have to fight by launching a mob attack with all the Kirby’s you have. Just make sure you do not lose all your Kirbys, otherwise, you have to start the game over.

As you go through the course, you also need to collect items including medals and fruits like bananas and apples. The fruits contribute to a power-up bar which when filled up adds another Kirby to the game. The medals, on the other hand, open up different game stages. With the clear objective and well-developed plot, this gameplay makes Kirby Mass Attack very enjoyable.

Controls: 2

Something unique about this game’s controls is the fact that they are very passive. Unlike other action platform games where you control the player’s jumps, runs and fights, this game only lets you direct the Kirbys. You have to use various controls on your Wii U GamePad to manifest a star on the screen that the Kirbys will follow. The same applies to attack and combat scenes. You continuously tap on your opponent to destroy them.

Replay Value: 3

The game has average replay value mainly due to the variety of unlockable features and alternative plots. As you continue to accumulate medals, treasures, and other collectibles, you get to access new mini-games with side plots you can explore. This increases the game’s replay value. The passive controls, however, negatively affect replay value as there is not much the player can do especially if you like active and involving games.

Conclusion

Kirby: Mass Attack has all the destruction and action that makes video games fun. It also has a captivating plot that gets you excited to fight for the Kirbys. With the different tricky puzzles you have to solve and challenges you have to overcome, this game will keep you occupied and entertained. In a nutshell, if you are willing to put up with the average graphics and limited control, then you will enjoy this classic.

Conclusion

This game`s unique plot makes it a great option if you are a collector of what are essentially video game antiques.
