Professional Review

Indie developers have a huge power to create some incredibly long-playing games out of plain concepts. Geometry Dash is a great hardcore runner-platformer, that deserves a place among VVVVV, Super Meat Boy and other outstanding titles. Luckily, Geometry Dash downloading is available for PC, iOS and Android.

Graphics: 5

Geometry Dash is very fast, but it is designed with a precise attention to details. Each element of each level is visible for just a second, but you manage to catch these fleeting little things without efforts. I passed 21 original levels and 16 DLC levels about 2 months ago, which is quite a lot, but they are still fresh in my memory. This title is extremely bright and bursting with colors providing a strong feeling of celebration.

Gameplay: 5

As I’ve already mentioned, there are 21 original levels and 16 levels from 4 official DLCs. All of them are absolutely unique and stick to non-repetitive music tracks by several pro-djs. To be fair, GD is quite difficult at the basic difficulty level, but there are as many as 7 difficulty options with 5 subsets for demon level (active in creative mode only).

At each level, you are supposed to take a cubical character through an obstacle row. “Simple” jumping over is diversified with multiple objects, that have their unique physical preferences. I found it completely impossible to get in from the very first try. Hopefully, it’s not shameful to confess, that it took me about 70 tries to complete the first level with auto-difficulty! Next 36 stages took almost the same efforts. I can’t stop being surprised at how this game could engage me for quite a long time as I don’t like platformers and runners a lot. That’s why making Geometry Dash review is so pleasant for me.

Controls: 5

Technically, controlling a square character is very easy. You just have to tap the screen or click the mouse frequently, but not excessively. Yes, you got it right, just one finger is needed to play Geometry Dash. Difficulties come, when you start. To pass a single level you have to click without mistakes. Each excess action leads to death and brings you to the very beginning of the level. Catch up with timings, and you will succeed.

Replay Value: 4.5

Due to GD’s 7 main and 5 additional difficulty levels and a massive online database of user-created missions you can easily fall into this world for months or even years. It’s time-taking and nerve-tickling, but extremely immersive at the same time. Hardcore lovers would evaluate it very high. High replayability of GD is obvious and controversial because it’s definitely not a game for everyone. You won’t like to replay it if the first walkthrough was forced. If you loved it, you are likely to move to users’ levels.

The Bottom Line

Geometry Dash is an outstandingly well-worked platformer game. To my mind, it’s quite suitable for both average and hardcore gamers due to its flexibility and versatile levels. Great exclusive EDM and DubStep soundtrack is worth extra attention and praise for synchronous level design. Robert Topala aka RobTop did his best and delivered us a game with no visible drawbacks. It has a soul and unique vibes. Does an Indie need something else?

Conclusion

If you’re a fan of platformers or hardcore gaming, Geometry Dash downloading is close to obligatory for you.

Pros : Beautiful design;
Endless user levels;
Cool soundtrack;
Flexible difficulty levels.

Cons : It may appear too difficult for some players.
